We have been Fully Raw since August 17th 2014 when the Woodstock Fruit Festival began and we feel fantastic! It´s great that we have come this far. We are so happy to be able to say that we have been 100% Raw low fat vegan for more than 6 months! Never thought we could do that, considering that we live in Iceland.
So…How will we feel if we eat a cooked meal again? Will we feel sluggish? Do we want to eat cooked food again? Is it better to eat raw than to eat cooked food or is it good to switch it up sometimes? These are some questions that we were curious to get answers to so guess what! We decided to eat a cooked meal and see how we felt and how out body would response. It was a fun experiment and we encourage you to do the same if you want to.
I baked some sweet potatoes and had a tomato sauce with them and fresh veggies. It was super good! This is how I made it:
I cut the sweet potato in medium size round circles and baked them in the oven for about 15 minutes on 185°C and then set the oven on roast for another 5-10 minutes. They were crispy on the edges and soft on the inside. Perfect! The sauce was just canned tomatoes blended in a blender and I cut cucumber, red bell pepper and washed some romaine leaves. That´s it. Ready!
I was super full after eating this cooked meal of two huge sweet potatoes, fresh veggies and canned tomato sauce. It was very fun to eat some sweet potatoes again, I missed them! To be honest I kinda wanna eat sweet potatoes again with my tomato sauce every know and then . I don´t think I am ready to let them go yet. I did feel a little weird after the meal though, it was satisfying to eat it and I got super satisfied, I just had to sit and digest in the sofa after the meal. It’s been a long time since I needed to do that. But nevertheless, I felt good and that’s all that mattered to me.
To be honest I want to keep being 100% raw for the next 6 months at least and then hopefully longer and even forever. Eating that cooked meal did make me feel a little weird but not bad, just not how I usually feel after meals. Eating cooked food again is something I will need to get used to slowly if I want to do that again some day. Eating raw is probably best for me now since I don’t feel my very best after eating cooked food. The whole night I felt weird in my body, but the next morning I woke up normal and great!
But hey! This meal does look good….don’t you just wanna take a bite or two…or eat it all by yourself like I did? if so…go ahead and enjoy every bite of it! No need to feel guilty since it’s vegan, fat free, gluten free and most important guilt free! Have a great day and thanks for reading.
