Traditional Guacamole

I love to eat avocados! My favorite thing about avocados is how creamy and so satisfying they are on top of a salad, in dressings and in dinner recipes. Avocados contain a very good source of protein and fat and they are packed with so many nutrients. If you like Mexican food then you have probably had some guacamole before. The first time I made my own guacamole at home was when I was about 13 years old, and I even remember my mothers face when she saw my beautiful guacamole, she thought it looked so delicious! After dinner my siblings asked me to make this every time we had Mexican food from now on because they loved it so much. There is nothing like home made Guacamole! IMG_1308

I have made many versions of Guacamole and I have discovered that I like my Guacamole mild, creamy, crunchy and sweet all at the same time, that’s why I use these ingredients:

2 ripe avocados
1 red bell pepper
2-4 sweet tomatoes (depending on the size)
2 spring onions
one or more handfuls of cilantro
1/2-1 fresh lemon or lime
pinch of cayenne pepper or chilli powder (optional)

Simply chop the red bell pepper, tomatoes, spring onion and cilantro. Cut the avocado in small cubes or mash it. Squeeze the juice from your lemon or lime.  Blend everything together and add some spices if you like spicy Guacamole. Enjoy with your Mexican food or salad. You can even have some Guacamole with some cucumber or zucchini slices as a snack!
