I know many people are thinking about how I eat, what I eat during the day and how it is to be living a raw vegan lifestyle.
I want to share with you the way I eat, the way I live, what kind of lifestyle I have chosen, because I believe it can help others finding a path they can follow or just inspire others to eat more plants in their diet. I have been eating a lot simpler, and therefore been making less recipes. When I was at the Woodstock Fruit Festival I ate only raw foods for two weeks, and since then I haven’t changed back. Now I haven’t eaten any cooked food for a month and I feel great! I can’t even begin to describe how much gratitude I have for finding this lifestyle, and how much better I feel. I feel healthier, more energised, more grounded, more connected to myself, more connected to the earth, I have more confidence, my mood is better, and I am more grateful for being here, being alive, breathing. Eating an abundance of fresh food, colourful vibrant food makes me happy, and I want others to experience the freedom that comes with eating a plant-based diet. Or at least incorporating more fruit and veggies in their lives.
I have been vegan for a year now and I already ate mostly raw foods. I generally ate raw during the day and then I had a cooked meal for dinner. Now I am fully raw, high-carb, and don’t cook any of my food.
I know my lifestyle leaves a number of questions for many people so I want to try and explain how my day is, what I eat, and most important: why I eat like that!
So why raw vegan? I am vegan for both health reasons, ethical reasons and environmental reasons. A few years ago I would never have believed that I would end up being vegan, or even vegetarian. When I was around 16 years old I started being more interested in eating healthy and read a lot about health and food online and spent a lot of time researching. And now, nothing else makes sense to me than being vegan. Our bodies get everything they need from plants and plants are the most nutritious food we can find on the planet. Then why would we take another lives to feed our own? We don’t require animals or animal byproducts to thrive.
I love the planet, I love the earth, all beings, I love myself. We are all created equal and everyone has their right for freedom. I eat raw plants because I care about myself and others. It is the most economical, environmental, ethical lifestyle you will find. And I don’t find it extreme to care about others.
I don’t cook my food because foods are more nutritional in their natural, unprocessed state. Raw fruit and veggies are the most nutritionally dense foods on the planet, and they are here for us! I love filling my body with vibrant, healthy, living foods, because I want to live a vibrant healthy life! I am made out of the foods I eat, and I want to be made out of clean, energising and living raw foods, as nature left them to be consumed. Juicy mangos, vibrant red tomatoes, creamy avocado, sweet bananas and dates! Not processed burgers, flour or artificial ingredients.
So my diet basically consists of fruit and vegetables, and then some nuts and seeds. A typical day for me would be a large smoothie for breakfast, maybe 7-8 banana smoothie, and for lunch I will have a large platter of fruit. For dinner I will have some fruit, followed by a big rainbow salad. I eat simple, fruit-based, living, raw, foods.
And I love it.
